The Study Of Fan Chuyi (范处义) And His Shi Bu Zhuan (诗补传)

Sung dynasty is a period which has special features very much on academic research. The most outstanding characteristics is academic skepticism, carrying on doubting completely and innovation to the traditional learning, becoming so-called Sung Learning. On the research of Shi Jing (诗经) , numerous scholars layed aside traditional learning to limit and expanded new ideas, in order to get the reasonable explaination to Shi Jing (诗经) . They writed a great deal of research works, such as Shi Ben Yi (诗本义), Shi Ji Zhuan (诗集传) , Shi Jing Xin Yi (诗经 新义) , etc. Arrived south Sung the skepticism played more and more strong. Some scholars even doubted Shi Xu( 诗序 ).This is the progress of academic research, but also expressed the excessive doubt. So some scholars insisted in Shi Xu (诗序 ) securely to guard traditional learning. As a result, they becomed two parties, one discarded Shi Xu (诗序 ) , the other one persisted in Shi Xu( 诗序). Both parties writed books to discuss their ideas,and debated endlessly. Meanwhile,they influenced each other, and developed their ideas too.The research of Shi Jing (诗经) studying in Sung dynasty have already had many academic works, but its range of research mostly concentrates on the famous scholars and the famous works. There's no special study on Fan Chuyi (范处义) and his Shi Bu Zhuan (诗补传). I think there are two reasons. The excellent works on Shi Jing (诗经) is too many in Sung dynasty, and Shi Bu Zhuan (诗补传) is not a best one. In addition,Fan Chuyi wasn't valued for long time,because we have no enough information about his events. This text tries to carry on a system research on Fan Chuyi and his Shi Bu Zhuan , in order to find Fan's family background and his events, comment the contents and the influence of Shi Bu Zhuan...
