Renaissance is one of the most representative art journals in the late 1940s. It was born on January 10, 1946 and lasted until August 5, 1949, not long before the establishment of new China. Thus, the Renaissance was representative in terms of time span. Based on Shanghai, Renaissance has authors all over the country and exerts great influence. What's more important, the works published by it, such as A Surrounded City, Trembling Night, were the main literature achievements of the late forties.The dissertation includes four chapters. The introduction based on the analysis of cause and significance of blooming research on the historical documents. Chapter 1 aims at illustrating the environment of the Renaissance at the very beginning through studies on the literary world of postwar. Chapter 2 tries to explore the changes of age by looking back the difficulties of Renaissance development. Chapter 3 illuminates the Renaissance's achievements which were shown by the famous works both by the famous and the unknown, festschrifts and studies on Chinese literature. Chapter 4 analyzes the significance of Renaissance by studying its role, feature and influence.
