A Study On Translation Theories Of Susan Bassnett

This thesis analyses the translation theory of Susan.Bassnett. It introduces the position and achievements of Susan.Bassnett in the field of translation and also looks back to the development of western translation theory. Through her points of view about the nature of translation, disregarding the traditional translation opinions, the thesis illustrates her ideas on decoding and encoding; equivalence; gain and loss and some other problems of translation study have been discussed in this thesis, especially about her main contributions of cultural translation theory.Translation is not purely the activity of language, it is with great concern about culture. Translation is the communication between culture and culture and translation equivalence is the equivalence of SL and TL on culture function.
