The Construction Of Summative Evaluation Index System For English Courseware

English courseware evaluation is multifaceted and complex. By studying the related English courseware evaluation, we find the previous study is not satisfying. There is still much room for the improvement in designing evaluation index system for English courseware.This paper uses Delphi technique and AHP method to construct a general summative evaluation index system for English courseware that assists language learning. The system is made according to SLA theory and CALL theory and it utilizes the advantages of domestic and foreign evaluation index systems.The evaluation index system includes three degrees indexes. The first-degree includes 4 items: instructional content, teaching features, courseware operation, and information display. The second-degree includes 23 items and the third-degree includes 39 items. The sum of index weight is 100.After constructing the evaluation index system, we use user-based method to evaluate "Listening and Speaking" courseware of "Experiencing English". In this way, the paper illustrates how to use the evaluation system to evaluate English courseware. The results show that most students are in favor of the courseware, but many things still need improving.
