Androgyny as a thought which came of matriarchy embodied the primitive people's na(?)ve consciousness of equal gender. Because of the establishment of the patriarchy, androgyny gradually retreated from the mainstream society. Later, the psychoanalyst -Sigmund Freud and the psychologist-Carl Gustav Jung separately from psychoanalysis and psychology analyzed the human being 's androgynous tendency, because they are mankind and the influence of tradition, they couldn't dap the traditional opposite genders' frame, so they were affected not to thoroughly understand and clarify the thought. But the English authoress-Virginia Woolf broke through their localization in their thoughts. As a female, she acutely knew the irrationality of the patriarchy, she animadverted the system in her all kinds of styles, then she definitely put forward androgyny in her "A Room of One's Own", she thought that the androgyny could break through the fetters which the traditional separate gender to the heart, accelerate the forms of human beings' independent and full personality, actualize the good foreground which man and woman can communicate equally and coexist harmoniously. This thought also became the main imago of her wholly works and important thought to understand her works. Because of Woolf s elucidatory, androgyny becomes an important concept of feminism and arouses the feminists' severe controversy and thorough discussion. Today, because of the laws such as man and woman are equal, the rights which vindicate women were constituted, the deeply development of the movement of feminism and the deeply influence of the thought of feminism, which make both man and woman experience deeply change in thought and behavior, the androgynous ideality which Woolf hoped gradually embodied in the new generation. The ambisextrous personality is more and more paid attention to and will play more important role in the future.This text systematically settled the androgynous thought from the history angle, drew the outline of the track of the androgyny and opened out the androgynous in different times.
