On The Folk-custom In The Design Of Chinese Animal Stamp

The twelve animals are the special folk-custom in China. The small stamps are widely used so they become the important carrier of the twelve animal cultures. The design of the twelve animal stamps is closely related with the art of folk-custom. The modern visual transmitting design has special requirement for the culture transmitted by the stamps which should show the beauty as well as coping with the challenging of the modern science and technology.This paper clears up the related theories of stamp design, animal culture and folk-custom and analyzes the examples and theories of the design of the animal stamps and the art of the folk-custom. It also collects and analyzes the materials concerning the history and future of the design of the animal stamps. This paper does research on the animal stamps'culture connotation, image and symbol, design rule and the value tendency. It is helpful for the modern designer to combine the modern design opinions with the traditional folk-custom in the multi-functional stamps. This paper focuses on the discussion and the research of the culture connotation and art value of the Chinese animal stamps design.
