Objective To explore the related factors of mental health and behavior problems of junior middle school and to take some intervention measures, to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention so as to provide scientific proof for improving mental health of junior middle school students. Meathods 4949 junior middle school students who came from Lixia district in jinan from 1999 to 2001 by means of cluster sampling were measured by some evaluated tools , wich included the psychological and behavior questionaire(PBQ), the students s status questionaire(SSQ), child behavior checklist(CBCL), Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90),Egma Minnen av Bardndosnauppforstran(EMBU), Family Environment Scale(FES), FamilyAdaptability and Cohesion Scale(FACES). These students were randomly assigned either as the study group(2633) or as the control group(2316), the study group were given intervention measures while the control group were given nothing and they were evaluated two years later again. Database was analyzed by general describing, T-test, Chi-square using SPSS12.0. Results the difference between the two groups was not significant befor intervention in the average score of CBCL, SCL-90. According to CBCL, the prevalence of behavior problems in the study group was 16.3%(429) and in the control group was 16.5%(381).
