Zhang Chengzhi, a unique figure of contemporary writers, is always exhausting himself in seeking his ideal with strong felling and real enthusiasm. What impresses me most includes his persistent voyage of "seeking Father", eccentric religious complex, strong romanticism and exploration of life value. Although I am a sincere worshiper of him; I still have to face the fact that to immerse myself into his works and understand them is extremely hard work in spite of the magic attraction that envelops his works. It is difficult to approach his works without passion, arts, learning and belief of "pre-destiny", which are full of the writer's passion pursuits and deep thought.This thesis explores his contribution to literature from the effect of multiculture on the writer, hard voyage of "seeking father"; eccentric religious complex, and rich romanticism, along with the influence & inspiration of his soul pursuit.Zhang Chengzhi experienced the hardships of living in Inner Mongolia grassland, Tianshan Mountain area and Loess plateau, all of which made him the masculine writer who is characterized by strongest nationality. He experienced a lot of grass-root life during his life as "Intellectual Youth" (a generation that went to the countryside due to the confusion resulting from the so-called "Cultural Revolution" in 1960s—1970s of China, so is the meaning of HongWeiBing in the following ) in theInner Mongolia grassland. The writer induced the core of ranching culture ------consciousness of life from his interpretation and insight of ranch life from his double identities of "the Shepherd" and "Outsider". After HongWeiBing's enthusiasm and cult faded away, all HongWeiBing experienced an overnight fall-down from political center position to the marginalized "masses", in which process Zhang Chengzhi experienced distress and pains and made profound thinking. He went through his second phase in Xinjiang Autonomous region, which he considered his "pre-life hometown", and led him to convert to Islam.
