Salt and Iron(盐 铁 论) is a political comment compiled by Huan Kuan(桓宽)in the western Han Dynasty(西汉),which has much value in the study of the history of Chinese. This dictionary took Bai Zhaolin's Notes and Translates of Salt and Iron (盐铁论注译) as the prototype and all 2,480-monosyllable words were reorganized and explained comprehensively. It may be provide some basic materials for studying Salt and Iron's vocabulary or the Han Dynasty vocabulary.Firstly, this dictionary counted the frequency that each monosyllable word appeared in the book; Secondly, it also gave phonetic notation to each word according to the Scheme for the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet; thirdly, it marked each word following the lexical category division and the terminology in the Grammar Study and other Papers (《文法学及其散 论》)written by Bai Zhaolin ;at last, it arranged meaning items in logic order and counted how many times they appeared, and it enumerated the first typical model after each item.
