The Study On The Modern English Loanwords In The Chinese Context

As we all know, with the development of intercultural communication, the relationship between language and culture has aroused much more attention than before. Up till now the detailed descriptions of this relationship have already been given from different perspectives, such as linguistics, sociology, anthropology and so forth.Loanwords, as the envoy among different cultures, have been used more and more frequently in the Chinese context of communication. In modern days particularly, English loanwords assume a new aspect. In this paper, we will emphatically discuss the so-called letter abbreviation, tiding up the borrowing forms of English loanwords.In addition, we focus on questionnaires, the most important method in sociological research, to survey and analyze the same linguistic phenomenon in areas of different civilization. In this chapter, we take Guangzhou, Shantou and Lianshang Town as examples, making full use of statistical sampling, scientific data collecting and processing.Finally, normalization of the modern English loanwords is the hot spot in the world of the Chinese linguistic application. In new era, we should pay more attention to their positive effects on Chinese lexicology by means of analyzing the development orbit of loanwords, and put forward some scientific, reasonable and positive principles, detailed regulations and advices on the loanwords normalization.
