Husu Yue was the kernel of the court music in Sui and Tang dynasties, among which the impact of Indian music can be obviously seen. Besides Tian Zhu Yue, which was entirely Indian music, there're many other kinds of music that were deeply impacted by Tian Zhu Yue. Some of them were directly adapted from Tian Zhu Yue. There're five of those music sections that were influenced by Indian music: Tian Zhu Yue, Qiu Ci Yue, Xi Liang Yue, Piao Guo Yue and Fu Nan Yue. Musicians emerged in large numbers, who played Indian instruments at that time. There're also a lot of dancers who performed dance of India that are found in historical literature;and there'er instrument players (Chou Tan Jia) who trained or practiced by playing the instruments of India in musical system of court, and all the proofs show that Indian music was flourishing then. However, the research in this field is rather weak. It is mentioned in the research before that Indian music contributed greatly to the court music of Sui and Tang dynasties, but the details are not seen yet. Therefore, based on the study of Indian instruments and dances of that time, this dissertation focuses on the situation and development of Indian music in the court music of Tang dynasty, so as to get a knowledge of the application, popularity, and adoption of Indian music. Furthermore, it points out the standard and impact of Indian music, as well as it's contribution to the court music during Sui and Tang dynasties.This dissertation belongs to the field of historical musicology, so the methods of historical musicology are applied in this dissertation , and primary data and facticity are laid stress on. With these data, the dissertation is to describe and analyze the situation, the degree and the impact of the adoption of Indian music during Sui and Tang dynasties as objectively as possible.There're four chapters in this paper: the first chapter is the summarization of the court music in Tang dynasty, the second and third chapters are the study of the origin and development of instruments and dances and the development and expansion after them being spread in China. In the last chapter, through the analysis of form to show the proportion of Indian instruments in 10-section music of Tang dynasty, as well as the frequency of the application of Indian music in Tang dynasty.During the research we find that the impact of Indian music ,as well as the rate of utilization and appearance of Indian instruments in musical system of court.
