Scholars have studied very sorts of genres in Western Han (xihan) and Eastern Han (donghan) Dynasty during the 20th century's ancient literature study, thanks to which, the literature of Han Dynasty has come to a further discussion. Presently, more and more attention has been paid to the political theses of Han Dynasty, as well as ancient Chinese prose. The achievements are mainly about the subjects such as the stages, the relation to the Confucian classics study, and the national traits of the political thesis and the academic paper, etc. However, the problems mostly focus on that many of these achievements are just introductory other than analytic ones; and what's more, some controversy still exists about the aesthetic essence and the image of the thesis. So the writer hopes it will be useful to learn and value the political thesis, including the academic paper better after analyzing. This article uses the thinking of the traditional literary theory, rhetoric and traditional aesthetics rather than copy the western theory of literature and art. Meanwhile, the comparative method will be used to try to stress the differences between the theses in Western Han Dynasty, Pre-Qin period, and Eastern Han. It will also be used to highlight the stage the theses of Western Han are in. The conclusion is as follows: the far-reaching, erudite and majestic image learned from the theses of Western Han Dynasty is the essential trait of this genre, depend on which, the Western Han theses link the academic papers in Pre-Qin to the prose in Tang and Song Dynasty (guwen).
