Chinese Jiajie is always the focus of traditional study. Because these characters obtain the sound-indicating feature. And is there any difference between the mode of sound-indicating of Chinese characters and English alphabets? This thesis is based on the relation between the language and writing system , trying to discuss the difference of the mode of sound-indicating between Chinese Jiajiezi and English alphabets.On the base of anterior researches about the phonetic loaning characters , this thesis adopts a new sight of view, started from the aspects of dynamic process of sound-indicating of Chinese phonetic loaning characters: Jiajie, trying to find out the nature of Chinese characters .This thesis is consisting of two parts. In chapter one, we probe into the basic phonetic unit in the process of sound-indicating of Chinese Jiajie and English alphabets. Syllable is the basic phonetic unit of the former while phoneme is the basic unit of the latter .The feature of syllable is that it indicates soundgroup on the whole because each Chinese character is combined with "sounds", "forms" and "meaning". Phoneme represents the smallest distinctive feature in English language so it can't be further divided. This is because that Chinese Jiajie and English alphabet belong to different writing systems.In chapter two we discuss the sound-indicating mode of Chinese Jiajie and English alphabet in detail. The basic principle of sound-indicating of Chinese loaning words is to present the sound of the character. The principle of sound-indicating of English letter is to mark the phoneme of language.
