A Study Of The Phonetic Parts Of Pictophonetic Characters In The Chinese Characters Outline Of Huayu Ceshi

The phonetic part is one of the direct components of a pictophonetic character,which can not only prompt the pronunciation of a pictophonetic character,but also the meaning of a pictophonetic character.This thesis takes 2930 Chinese characters in the "Chinese Characters Outline of Huayu Ceshi " as the research scope,and determines 1835 pictophonetic characters and 788 phonetic parts according to the principle of reality.This thesis is guided by the principle of reality and adopts the research method of quantitative analysisto to do a systematic and comprehensive study on the two aspects of phonetic parts: prompt the pronunciation and hint the meaning.And then,on the basis of analyzing the characteristics of two functions of pictophonetic characters' phonetic parts,I offer some teaching suggestions for teaching Chinese pictophonetic characters in the sight of phonetic parts.According to the analysis of this thesis,in the " Chinese Characters Outline of Huayu Ceshi ",the overall presentation rate of the phonetic parts' prompting pronunciation reaches 50.2%.According to the strength of the indication of the phonetic parts to the pictophonetic characters,it can be divided into three types: full phonetic,half phonetic and weak phonetic.The number of phonetic parts that can represented meaning is 220,accounting for 27.9% of the total number of phonetic parts.there are three types of hinting meanings with regard to the relationship of meaning between phonetic parts and pictophonetic characters.The.first kind is the meaning of pictophonetic characters is the original meaning of phonetic parts.The second kind is the meaning of pictophonetic characters is the extended meaning of phonetic parts.The third kind is the meaning of pictophonetic characters is the etymological meaning of phonetic parts.In general,the pronunciation-indicating function and meaning-enhancing function of phonetic parts contribute greatly to the motivation of pictophonetic characters.But it also has its limitations: its pronunciation-indicating function is constantly weakening,and the meaning-indicating function also has the limitation of complexity and irregular weakening.Last but not least,according to the characteristics of the pronunciation-indicating function and meaning-indicating function of phonetic parts,this thesis puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of pictophonetic characters.In addition,at the end of the thesis,there is a phonetic parts table of "Chinese Characters Outline of Huayu Ceshi",a statistics table of complete pronunciation-indicating phonetic parts and their pictophonetic characters and a contrastive table of meanings between phonetic parts that can prompt meanings and pictophonetic characters.And they are contribute to the statistical data involved in the thesis.
