A Research Into The Quasi-suffix "化" In Modern Chinese

This thesis probes into the quasi-suffix "化" which is widely used in modern Chinese. The thesis carries on a multi-dimensional study on the quasi-suffix "化", trying to give a basic observation, description and explanation.For a long time, the studies of the affix"化" have caught much of linguistics' attention. The first part of the thesis introduces the current research on the affix "化", and points out the object, materials, means, content and basic conclusions of the thesis.Then, we investigate the constant "化"in the "X 化" word clan from inner side. The second part of the thesis probes into some diachronic aspects of "化". In ancient Chinese, "化" was a substantive and has become an affix in modern Chinese.Scholars hold different opinions towards the belonging of "化". Then, we compare "化" with a typical suffix "子", investigate some features of "化"in modern Chinese and consider that "ft" is a quasi-suffix .The quasi-suffix "化" has two functions: identifying the part of speech of a word with the quasi-suffix "化" and working as a symbol of the meaning of "some character or state" .The fifth part of the thesis probes into two restrictions which come from the course when "X" is entering "X 化" structure frame. They are pronunciation restriction and grammar restriction. And it also probes into the necessary conditions...
