The dissertation has drawn a conclusion of the rules and regulars of the new substitute words since 1978. It contains two parts in general. In the first part, the paper explains that for what the papers are and defines the related ideas and concepts such as new words, word-making and word-forming, substitute and trope. In the second part, the dissertation displays all of the new substitute words' meanings and gives examples to show how these substitute words are used. Especially, the dissertation analyzes the new substitute words in views of phonetics, grammar, semantic and rhetoric in detail. Thus the motivation of the new substitute words can be found. The paper proposes that the new substitute words are made in the way of substitution and developed towards more than three syllables, which reflect mainly humble people's life and the economic society. In the end of the papers, it concludes the characteristics of how the new substitute words are being formed and what the effects these kinds of words will bring to the mandarin vocabulary system.
