After the Korea War, the relationship between China and America had been in hostility, which lasted until Nixon's presidency. During these years China and America were several times at the brink of war on the issue of Taiwan and Vietnam. This paper focuses on studying the diplomatic communication between China and America during the crisis. The paper argues that although China and America was in hostility, both tried to control the crisis and not allow it develop into an open fight. Under the circumstance of no formal diplomatic channel existing between the two countries, both China and America tried to show their intentions of wish to avoid war.This paper consists of five parts. Part one introduces the theory of psychologic analysis of international politics. According to this school of theory, foreign policy was made as a response to the reality. The policy-maker can't always correctly understand the objectivity of the hostile nations. This misunderstanding often led to the war.Part two traces of the diplomatic communication between China and America during the Korea War. At the beginning of the Korea War, the two countries with the least intention for war yet broke into it because of the failure of being understood by the other. The war affected the relationship between the two countries. Both felt the need for a diplomatic channel to understand the other's intention. Both countries got to know each other's military strength and tried to avoid conflict being exacerbating into a war during the crisis.
