Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung is the significant spiritual treasure of Chinese people and revolution. It is the crystallization of Mao Tse-tung's experiences in Chinese revolution. There are a lot of Chinese culture-loaded words used in Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung. These culture-loaded words can embody the features of Chinese language as well as Chinese culture, and more importantly, by using these culture-loaded words chairman Mao can explain the profound and complicated theories of Marxism in simple words and expressions and make them popular and easily understood by the great masses of people. As a whole the culture-loaded words have played a significant role in Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung. Therefore, the translation of these culture-loaded words appears extraordinarily important.This thesis gives an analysis on the sources of the culture-loaded words in Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung according to their own features, and the cultural features reflected by them. Meanwhile, the thesis also designates the influence upon the three aspects of semiotic meanings embodied in the culture-loaded words on account of the cultural differences and then, points out that the translation of culture-loaded words is to convey, exactly and appropriately, the three different aspects of semiotic meanings contained in these words in accordance with their peculiar cultural background. This thesis also gives a summary of the translating principles of the culture-loaded words, and seven main approaches used in translating the culture-loaded words in Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung are also discussed in this thesis.
