Entering the 21^st century, the mainstream of translation study has shifted from linguistic respective to cultural factors, and the cross cultural communication has become the subject of translation which is greatly enriched by all kinds of cultural translation theories that with various merits and characteristics. With the rapid development of cross cultural communication, the translation of culture loaded words and expressions are of great importance which effectively enhances the cross cultural communication.There is a close relation among culture, language and translation. They influence each other and complementary facilitate each other. With cross cultural communication in its core, this thesis analyses the feature of culture loaded words in the Selected Works of Lu Xun's Fiction, and elaborates on its forms and role that it plays in cross cultural communication. It also does comparative analysis to the two famous English versions of Lu Xun's fiction in terms of culture loaded words translation through which we learn how to manipulate different strategies, methods to deal with the cultural focus under the general principle of cultural faithfulness. Semiotic meaning analysis of the culture loaded words is an emphasis in the thesis which provides effective ways to correctly understand all kinds of culture loaded words. Apart from that, the thesis also exemplifies some factors that influence the translation of culture loaded words such as text types, the purpose for translation, the acceptability of readers and so forth.The thesis holds that in translating culture loaded words, semiotic meaning analysis should be done in combination with the cultural context to seize its cultural focus, and proper skills and different strategies should be adopted to ensure smooth culture communication and transplant. Foreignization and domestication is the two contrary and complementary strategies most translators employed in dealing with different culture loaded words and expressions and transliteration, literal translation, free translation, substitution, amplification and omission are the skills that most used in the process of culture transplant.This thesis is mainly divided into introduction, main body and conclusion. Chapter One deals with the theoretical background of cross cultural communication in translation, elaborates what's culture and cultural turn in translation study. Chapter Two focuses on culture loaded words, the role it plays in cross cultural communication, the guiding principle and factors that should be taken into account in cultural transplant. Next, Chapter Three mainly details in Lu Xun's fiction. The culture loaded words in Lu Xun's fiction and its social meaning and its categories will be all elaborated. Chapter Four does a comparative analysis of the translation methods about the two English versions of Lu Xun's fiction in dealing with the culture loaded words and expressions. Finally, the last chapter is the conclusion of the thesis.
