The Cultural Hegemony And National Security Of Globalization Era

Abstract: At present, globalization has been a strong tidal current and has infiltrated into politics, economy, technology and culture in an inevitable trend. An important character of globalization is global communicating, in addition of the close-knit economic intercourse, the communication of globalization is more and more close. That's to say, the direct result of economic globalization is cultural globalization. Culture as the soul of a nation, has a strong cohesion for one country. Especially, with the rapid change of global politics structure and the accelerated development of globalization, the function of culture in one country is more and more evident. Culture has a crucial relationship with survive and safety of a nation. However, in the development of culture in the whole world, since different country has different economic strength, there have been two types of culture: strong culture and weak culture. Western countries in which America takes the head infiltrate their culture and concept of values into others consciously by the right of their strong economy and technologies, and push cultural hegemony to the whole world as well, which has terribly threatened the cultural security of the other countries in the world. Cultural safety as a deep subject of national security will have a concern effect on the country's politics, economy, military affairs, technology and society. Consequently, the cultural hegemony brings great challenge to national security in a deep way.Then, how to resist western cultural hegemony under the trend of global cultural amalgamation and protect the culture security of a country itself is an important problem we should research at present. This thesis aims to reveal the substance of cultural hegemony and the influence on national security by analyzing the theories of cultural hegemony and actualities, thus it is meaningful to developing countries on how to protect their national security during widespread associations of globalization.The thesis includes four parts as following:The first part is about hegemony and cultural hegemony.
