The Challenge Of China’s Cultural Security From Western Cultural Hegemony And Its Strategic Countermeasures

National cultural security mainly focuses on national interests in the field of culture. Cultural security is an essential part of the national security, whose purpose of identifying with the mainstream ideology, enhancing cultural attractiveness and putting the core socialist values in practice is essential requirement on national security in the field of the culture. The cultural security of a people or a country not only is good for improving the attractiveness of the national culture in order to protect the culture itself, it also is beneficial for protecting the economic security and political security.Based on the theory of the cultural security written by the authors abroad and home, the thesis makes the overall analysis of the relation between western cultural hegemony and China’s national cultural security from the perspective of the Marxism’s theory and Cultural security. On the one hand, the Western cultural hegemony consists of an external challenge, whose performance is mainly that Western developed countries depend on economic superiority to promote the Western values and make full use of methods to infiltrate into the cultural lives of China, which cause China’s cultural security lashed. The other is more vital reason including that the situation of mainstream ideology is worse, the attraction of socialist culture with Chinese characteristic is poor and values is confusing.Some possible strategic countermeasures are proposed to hold back the influence of the western cultural hegemony and protect China’s national cultural security. On the one hand, China should strengthen its economic construction tamping the material basis for the socialism with Chinese-characteristics in order to guarantee the solid foundation for our Cultural security. On the other hand, with respect to strengthening socialist cultural construction:firstly, China should take Marxism as direction to strengthen the construction of the socialist core value system for maintaining the leadership and Voice of China’s mainstream ideology. Secondly, China should vigorously motivate the construction of the advanced culture of socialism via innovations creating the prosperous culture ecology in order to enhance the attractiveness of the culture. In addition, China should cultivate and put the socialist core values in practice with Chinese characteristics for enhancing our national cohesiveness to decrease the impact of Western values. Finally, China should strengthen the cultural communication with other countries for enhancing the common sense of fate and developing common values.
