As an attempt of evaluation model of Chinese coursebooks for foreigners with learners as evaluators, the key problem that this thesis discusses is to demonstrate the necessity of learners as evaluators during the process of evaluating coursebooks and how to carry on evaluating based on learners. Coursebook is an important media and channel in second language teaching. And coursebook evaluation, which is an important way of judging and evaluating the quality of coursebooks, has contribution of feedback, diagnose and appraisal during the process of coursebook compiling and using.Former coursebook evaluations were almost carried on by specialists, scholars or teachers. And the evaluation was a kind of impressional one. There is absence of objective evaluation with learners as evaluators in the area of Chinese coursebook for foreigners evaluation research and practice. In addition, there are a great deal of Chinese coursebooks, but they are not the same high level in quality, which also calls for a reasonable coursebook evaluation as a way of scale to judge Chinese coursebooks and improve the quality of coursebooks. According to the above mentioned, The author attempt to establish a evaluation model of Chinese coursebooks for foreigners with learners as evaluators, which is based on the theory of regarding students as centre, with a core procedure of establishing a evaluating scale, and with the principle of long-term and opening. Then two angles of theory and demonstration is used to prove the correctness and rationality of the model. Theory proves from the theory of teaching method, second language acquisition and across-culture communication. The demonstration also proves the necessity of learners as evaluators through comparing the evaluating results between learners and teachers, with the way of questionnaire and statistic analysis. Then, as a conclusion to the whole thesis, the value and significance are mentioned.
