| Since March,2010, Chuangzhi Chinese, a set of Chinese textbooks for Thailand's secondary schools issued by NOCFL and the Thai Ministry of Education has been in use in some schools. In order to study the actual effect of this set of textbooks by testing whether it can meet the needs of both students and teachers as well as its deficiency, this research evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of these textbooks in terms of their editing features and characteristics in using for reference to further improvement of the construction of new Chinese textbooks for Thailand.In view of the guiding ideology of the outline of this set of textbooks and its stylistic rules and layout, this research first analyzes various compositional elements textbooks, including vocabulary, vocabulary level of control, text length and topics, grammar, the intensity, level and form of class drills, ways and characteristics of displaying cultural knowledge. Secondly, in the survey of its use in actual teaching activity in "Glang" (Wittayasataworn) middle school, we observed the actual effect and degree of satisfaction of the vocabulary, text and drills from its pertinent, scientific, practical and interesting aspects. Finally, this article also summarizes the main characteristics of this set of textbooks as well as its shortage and proposes specified advices for teachers to take better advantage of it by adjusting their teaching strategies. |
