An Exploration On The Application Of The FIT In China

The impact of the family on the development of mind is from the infancy to the youth. The family is one of the important factors that have an effect on the mental health. The researches on the correlation between family and mental health are so many, and some of them have approved that the problems of the individual have something with the pathological family. Family therapy has been widely used in the field of counseling and therapy, and one important step of them is the assessment of family relationship. There are some common scales, such as FES, FACESII, and FAD. But these scales have some disadvantages, for example, the disguise in the measuring and the deficiency of information. Therefore, many therapists assess the family relationship by asking questions, which are not certain on the results of assessment. FIT is the special scale for assessing the family relationship, which has widely used in Japan because of its peculiarity of projection. The aim of the paper is to explore the application of FIT under the environment of China.Firstly, the research has examined the reliability and validity of the FIT in China. The results of the retest on the 47 students in senior high school during a week interval have showed the good reliability of FIT. The results of the correlate analysis between the FIT and the FES and FACES have showed the good criterion-related validity of FIT.Secondly, the research has investigated the family image of the students in senior high school. The results indicate that the standard family image of them is very well, and there are no difference between boys' and girls'. Furthermore, we found there are four types of family image, including balanced, father-dominated, mother-dominated and children-dominated, which have different characters on family image.Thirdly, the paper has studied the correlation between the family image and the self-esteem and the mental health. The results find the difference of self-esteem and mental health in different types of family image, and indicate some significant difference between the father-dominated and mother-dominated. Some characters of family image have significant correlation between the self-esteem and mental health, and also indicate that self-esteem has an effect on mental health as a medium variable.Finally, the paper has analyzed how to use the FIT assessing the family relationship of the client in clinical practice by a true case.Through reporting the reliability and validity of FIT in China, and combining the investigation and case method, the paper indicates the application of FIT under the environment of China roundly and thoroughly, and provides more information of the further application of FIT in China.
