Research For Chen Xiang

It is known to all that the development of civilization during the Song dynasty is very prosperous. In the last century the study and research on this subject were maturer. Zhuzi ' s philosophy caught more and more attention in the academic area. However, the early stage of LiXue which was spreading in Fujian dring that time was seldom studied. To research the representative individuals and their ideas on this field are undoubtedly very significant, which can help us to explain MinXue' s development clearly, conclude its features and explore its value for the research on Song Dynasty' s culture. Chen Xiang, an academic official between RenZong and ShenZong period, is one of the advocates for LiXue in FuJian area, He has showed great talent on writing such as GuWenji. When he was in office, his achievements in his post are very brilliant. As for his academic performance, he was one of the "Four Min Masters" , along with Chenlie, Zhouximeng and Zhengmu.At present the research on ChengXiang is virtually blank, except being mentioned in the historical statement of MinXue . The present paper attempts to accumulate some information from the concerning historical materials, and remark based on his works.The writer trys to accentuate his great accomplishment sonmorality ,achievements ,literature, and historic achievements on Lixue area. In addition, the literator s' spirit, the combination of social responsibility and individuality, are also discussed in some way in the present paper.
