Empirical Research Wisdom Ability And Political Integrity Theory

The wisdom theory of integrating intelligence with morality (WTIIM) is an indigenous wisdom theory developed in Chinese culture. WTIIM advocates that wisdom should be defined from the perspective of integrating intelligence with morality and holds that wisdom in essence is an alloy of good moral characters and intelligence, the unity of conscience and good behaviors. Its core ideas include several interrelated aspects:(1) the definition of wisdom;(2) the structure and nature of wisdom;(3) the classification of wisdom;(4) the new view of cultural differences of wisdom.The purpose of this study is to validate the core ideas of WTIIM with empirical approaches, and through the research of wisdom’s structure, the classification of wisdom, the implicit measurement of wisdom’s characteristics, the implicit measurement of wisdom’s cultural differences between Chinese and western, the evaluation of people’s wisdom, five conclusions are as follows:(1) Wisdom is a multi-level and multi-dimensional structure, which is composed of2second-order factors and6first-order factors,2second-order factors are intelligence and morality,6first-order factors are:super intelligence, creative thinking, rich knowledge and good motivation, good effect, good means. Each element is independent but complements each other.(2) According to the semantics of descriptors of wisdom, wisdom includes five aspects of good moral quality, good social skill, good personal quality, good thought quality, and good mental quality; According to the performance of wise person’s quality and talent, wise person can be divided into two major categories of moral wise person and natural wise person; According to the descriptors describing different quality of wise person, the wisdom can be divided into two categories of moral wisdom and natural wisdom.(3) On the implicit level, compared with the fool men, the participants link wise person closer with the attribute words of integrating intelligence with morality; compared with the link of moral wise person with natural attributes and natural wise person with moral attributes, the participants link closer moral wise person with moral attributes and link closer natural wise person with natural attributes, which proved that the participants have the implicit cognitive orientation of wisdom features:"integrating intelligence with morality is the real wisdom","wisdom in essence is an alloy of good moral characters and intelligence".(4) On the implicit level, Chinese participants more likely regard moral wise person as wise person, western participants have no bias on moral wise person or natural wise person who is the wise person; Compared with natural wise person, Chinese and western participants both have more sense of social identity towards moral wise person; Chinese participants show indistinctively positive attitude towards moral wise person, but show obviously negative attitudes towards natural wise person, western participants show obviously positive attitude towards moral wise person, but have no positive or negative bias on natural wise person. It proved that Chinese culture attaches great importance to moral wisdom; western culture attaches great importance to both moral wisdom and natural wisdom.(5) On the judgment of wisdom, participants are more likely to regard the person who is with the quality of integrating intelligence with morality as the wise person, regard the person who is with the quality of more intelligence but less morality as the smart person, and regard the person who is without the quality of integrating intelligence with morality as the fool person. The level of intelligence and morality are two important factors on evaluation whether a person is wise or not.The above conclusions effectively confirmed the wisdom theory of integrating intelligence with morality, and provided strong data support for WTIIM.
