Middle Chinses vocabulary plays a very important role in the history of Chinese Language, which based on summarizing the former research work and exploring the later theories. Nowadays specialization in Middle Chinses vocabulary is not systematic enough. In this thesis Middle Chinses vocabulary in diet is chosen to be researched.In the first chapter time separation of Middle-Chinese is set, research situation of Middle Chinses vocabulary in diet is introduced and method of research is submit. In the second chapter six categories of Middle Chinses vocabulary in diet such as crops, main food, vegetables, fruits, beverage and instruments are interpreted. In this thesis accurate meaning of each term is searched, meanwhile its cultural connotation is elaborated through habit of diet, social development and characteristic of cooking. In the third chapter several basis of creation of Middle Chinses vocabulary in diet are concluded: basis of explanation, basis of rhetoric, basis of sound stimulation. The phenomenon of "one subject with multiple names" in Middle Chinses vocabulary in diet is also analyzed.
