On The Teaching Of The Piano Suite SpringJourney

As a renowned contemporary composer ,pianist ,music educationist and activist in China ,Ding Shande has created a good number of musical works ,most of which are piano pieces .It has been his essential principle and goal to create piano works with Chinese characteristic .The piano suite SpringJourney was the first work he formally published .he employed traditional European composing techniques and elements of Chinese national music ,on the basis of which be made bold innovations,producting a piece with distinct national characteristic and a musical style of his own.The research on the piano suite SpringJourney aims to enhance the infiltration of Chinese musical language in piano teaching ,and expand the repertoire of technical training so that students may appreciate a multiple musical culture .The piano suite SpringJourney consists of four relatively independent musics ,which can be played separately (except the first one ) or collectively as a suite .the four musics entitled Awaiting Daybreak ,in the boat ,By the Willow Bank and Dancing of the Morning Breeze,portray the picture of people going on a spring excursion .Created during 1945,the period of the Anti-Japanese War ,the work reveals the composer's yeaning for sunshine and his optimism .the work is an outstanding masterpiece in the genre of piano suite created by the early Chinese composers and was enormously influential in those day .this excellent musical work ,rich in Chinese characteristics ,has successfully realized the combination of content techniques and national style .From the perspective of teaching ,the present thesis elaborates on the following aspects of the piano suite :the composer's life ,background of composition ,style and technique of the work ,which may provide some references for the accurate understanding and grasp of the work in both performance and teaching .
