Language is used for communication for which listening is a premise. Listening is an important language skill which is the first skill to be trained. Listening, as an important link in language communication, has its own characteristics including relentlessness, dynamics, and being controlled by utterance. With the development of the theories of second language acquisition, researchers pay more and more attention to the important function listening performs in language learning. But how to facilitate learners to use language more freely in their daily communication with others is still under discussion. In the traditional way of teaching listening, it seems that the teacher's function is using the text books and simply playing the tape and checking the answers. So learners often think listening class is boring. Social constructivism suggests that knowledge is not passively received but actively builds up by the cognizing subject. Consequently, it is significant to take consideration of the learner as an individual, actively involved in constructing meaning. Based on the constructivist theory, the characteristics of listening process and the analysis of the current situation of listening teaching, this paper proposes to use interactive teaching approach in listening class.
