The Methods Of Meaning-expressing For Meaning-expressing Chinese Characters

The methods of meaning—expressing is the connection between the visual meaning fonts and the original meaning of characters .In this article, the study object is 3500 common Chinese characters.This article consists of three parts.The first part is preface. It is mainly about the definition of meaning—expressing Chinese characters and the means how to identify them. Then, the study materials and study methods are indicated.The second part mainly approaches the methods of meaning—expressing for meaning—expressing Chinese characters. First, the article analyzes the font style of meaning—expressing Chinese characters one by one, and on the basic of identifying the original meaning, approaches the methods of meaning expressing. In this part, the connections between visual meaning and original meaning are divided into three categories: direct connection, indirect connection and relatively no—connection. Under these categories, there are some more detailed ones. The next step is making a quantitative statistics for every category of these characters. At last, a classification of all these words is made according to the methods of meaning—expressing in the appendix and forms a table.
