The Breakout Of The Despair

The Chinese intellectuals experienced two mind strikes, one in the May fourth period, the other one in the 1980s and it is generally considered that the spiritual crisis encountered in the 1980s was more crucial. For the intellectuals, the feeling of the loss of the humanism spirit was especially outstanding in their texts, from which the feeling of loss and despair was gradually increased through the literature about searching for one's cultural roots and the pioneer literature in the extreme form texts. Such despair feeling in the new period of China was different from it in the western texts, which not only impelled one period but also discarded the former period and was even the feeling of vanity after having been cheated by the previous imagination of an ideal future.Overindulging the language, obeying the flesh, the love limit, leeching on to the art, these four forms of existence basically composed the literature texts from the 1980s to the 1990s, especially the pioneer texts which leaned to transit their inside despair by the four forms although led to the deeper vanity and despair afterwards. It could be seen that the real period was illustrated by a serial of performance by pioneer literature, namely, the obsession of the text forms and languages, the narcissism of appetency, the miss and insufficient of love and clinging to the art with the lack of belief. The original reason of the despair was the lack of love and belief. In the 1990s, the pioneer literature corrected the extreme form experiments in the 1980s and began to seek its significance and value with the pioneer spirit in the way of conflicting with the pop culture, showing its return of reality and the real spirit. During the progress, the pioneer literature also broke away from the simple imitation of the western literature in the 1980s.
