The well-known essayist Yu Guangzhong in Taiwan was deeply influenced by the traditional Chinese culture and the western one. He was not satisfied with the low ruling style of "femininity" in Taiwan in the 1960s and the 1970s , and boldly blazed new trails by proposing a series of new theories concerning writing prose and putting them into practice .His artistic research , however , was always trapped in a whirlpool of two opposing laws: both Chinese and western cultural orientation , the dilemma of adopting both the "fierce tiger" style and the "rose" style, the conflicting pursuit for both rich and simple styles of prose writing itself , intentionally creating on-the-spot feeling and occasionally straying from this, a mixture of obscure and unintelligible language VS clear and intelligible one, and so on. This kind of artistic probe and the personal and mythological system of an innovative approach turned out to be a regretful dream difficult to be realized. This thesis carries out a deep discussion from the perspective of comparative and influence study, hitting the remark from Yu's aesthetic prose writing, by reading and interpreting prose texts, adopting the scientific methods of cultural criticism, artistic aesthetics, received aesthetics and psychology.
