Stria is an important expressional technique of traditional Chinese painting. It is also the most fundamental language element of Chinese painting's formative composition .The high-level linear art of the ancient artists can be seen from the engraved designs on the stone wares and the jade wares of Old Stone Age, the decorative patterns on the bronze wares and jade sculptures before Qin dynasty , and the silk paintings relief stones and relief bricks which belong to Qin and Han dynasties, and from every other work. At the same time, according to the different characteristics of the depicted matters ,the generations of artists summarized a lot of linear skills and formed various styles .Delineation ,texture strokes and tracing , which are characterized by linear expression, gradually became a significant method of Chinese painting . Linear art also became rich and varied in changing compositions and expansions, and linked up the whole history of Chinese painting.The early heavy-coloured landscapes inherit the linar art of the early-stage paintings and apply the method that is first limning outline and then filling with colours . This thesis according to the time ,by analyzing the mountains and waters in the relief stones and bricks of Qin and Han dynasties, in the paintings of WeiJin dynasties and the Southern and Northen dynasties, in the Dunhuang frescoes of the same time ,and those heavy-coloured landscapes and mural paintings of Sui and Tang dynasties , sums up the basic characteristics of the early heavy-coloured paintings .(1)the quality of lines changes from the moving-thread stroke of the Six Dynasties to the iron-wire stroke of Sui and Tang dynasties .(2)generality : Lines in...
