As an important part of Chinese traditional “pencilism”,“Tang Dynasty White Painting” has its unique research value.Historically,the study of "plain ink painting" has focused on figure painting,and has rarely paid attention to its connection with landscapes.Through the interpretation of various documents,this paper finds the important data of the relationship between plain ink painting and landscape in the Tang Dynasty,and concludes that there is indeed a "plain ink painting of landscape" in the Tang Dynasty.After the Wei and Jin Dynasties,landscape painting gradually developed from the background painting of the story to an independent painting.In the various expression methods that appeared at that time,the "plain ink painting" style was a part that could not be ignored.The purpose of this paper is to in-depth study of the development of plain ink painting of landscape of the Tang Dynasty,with a view to helping the overall study of landscape paintings in the Tang Dynasty.In this paper,through the mutual reflection of the literature and the physical evidence and the comparative analysis between the specific works,the linear characteristics of the "plain ink painting" and the landscape in the Tang Dynasty,the early landscape and the "plain ink painting of landscape",and the "plain ink painting of landscape" in the Tang Dynasty.The three main problems of evolution are studied,trying to sort out and outline the general development of the plain ink painting of landscape in the Tang Dynasty,to find the motivation in the process of evolution,and find that the history of Chinese early landscape painting is not the result of a single internal evolution in a closed cultural environment.The extent of the influence of Western culture may exceed the imagination of the past.The plain ink painting of landscape of the Tang Dynasty was the result of the combination of internal and external factors.Taking history as a mirror,the study of white painting landscapes in the Tang Dynasty will also help the Chinese art knowledge community to make more rational judgments and adopt more active and effective countermeasures against the current situation of the high degree of integration of civilizations in different regions of the world.
