From the end stage of Ming dynasty to the beginning of Qing dynasty, city of Chengdu suffered serious damages. Old buildings were destroyed and citizens were massacred because of both natural disasters and human retaliations. To newly rebuild Chengdu as feudal ruling center of Sichuan region, the construction was started from Shunzhi (AC 1644~1661). This process passed through Kangxi (AC 1662~1722), Yongzheng (AC 1723~1735) and lasted until Qianlong (AC 1736~1795). The construction had profound influence to the afterwards Chengdu urban development. Rebuilding included three aspects, namely urban planning construction, city economy, and city culture.Firstly, to highlight its function as political and cultural center, the new Chengdu inherited the old Chengdu's spatial style in premise. Not only infrastructure (bridge, road), but also city hall and houses were rebuild and recovered by joint efforts of government and citizens. More importantly, The mancity became Chengdu's new "inside city". The reconstruction played an important role on future urban development.Secondly, economy recovering was one of the key objectives. By participation and sponsor of government, some governmental and non-government economic organizations were emerged and prospered in Shunzi and kangxi period.
