The Yuefu Mulan, Chinese Ballad is widely known by the Chinese. And for hundreds of years not only Mulan's image has always been updated and enriched in all kinds of literary works from generation to generation, but also Maxine Hong Kingston's novel The Woman Warrior and Disney's two animation Mulan and Mulan II endowed Mulan with entirely new imagic connotation and modern illumination. What's more, Disney' worldwide producing and distributional network made it possible that the Chinese legend of Mulan became Americanised and globalized.The cultural transformation of Mulan's image, from The Yuefu Ballad of Mulan to the Disney's animated feature Mulan, puts up many academic topics about traditional culture symbol in the development of society and history, such as the expression of ideology, the self-construction and self-identity of nation, the Chinese image in the eye of Americans and so on, which is brought forward by contemporary context and should be considered through the angle of comparative literature seriously.The thesis mainly adopts methods of textual research, imagologie, discourse analysis; refers to critical method of cultural study, reviews the words and sentences, figuration, reception of The Yuefu Ballad of Mulan in detail, which is derivation of Mulan's image; observes the cultural transformation of Mulan's image, especially the renewal shaping by multinational corporation; summarizes correlative academic...
