The Poem of Mulan, also known as the Ballad of Mulan and the Song of Mulan,is a literary work known to everyone in China. Over one thousand years, Mulan’sstory has been passed down from generation to generation and constantly broughtforth the new and expanded. People are very respectful to Mulan’s heroic deeds.Mulan’s loyalty and filial piety are deep-rooted in our minds.In1998, the cartoon Mulan made by the Disney Corporation added date, love, protecting monarch and some other plots to the originally simple Mulan’s story. Thestory was performed not all the same to the China’s, but enjoyed and accepted by theaudience all over the world. The Mulan’s story in the Disney’s version was on the baseof accepting and reserving the Chinese traditional culture. The Disney also embeddedthe American’s value into it. So the film combined emancipating the mind freely in theWest with the classics and the perfect mystically in the East. The film not only cateredto the audience in China and the USA, even met the taste of the global audience.Saying from the opinion of showing Chinese charm, Americans opened a window forus indeed that is how to express our reservation and enjoyed by others? The Disney’sreport of the Chinese ancient stories have to make us reconsider about Chinese filmsuccessfully.
