The level of religion is closely related to the number of rational factors in religious consciousness. In the historical evolution of Taoist thought process, the rational factor in Taoism awareness are showing the increasing trend. In the early Ming dynasty, the 43rd generation Heavenly Teacher Zhang Yuchu's new interpretation of Taoism argumentation advanced with times, is a typical case in the process of Taoism culture changing. Based on Zhang Yuchu's conforming to the early Ming's Taoism policy and Taoist developing trends, this paper analyses that standing on the position of Taoism, Zhang Yuchu not only absorbed and utilized the relevant ideas of Confucianism, but also maintained its own independence of internal thoughts and external features, and enhanced and promoted the rational values of Taoism argumentation. Zhang Yuchu's thought not only has a certain impact on the development of Taoism, evolution of traditional Chinese culture, relationships between Taoism and the government, and social stability, but also provides some referable inspiration for the modernization of Taoism nowadays.In specific, this paper adopted many methods, such as document method, comparative method, logic analysis etc. to research. The purpose is to provide some reference for studying how Taoism can adapt to modern society in the background of contemporary society with radical transformation. This paper concludes seven parts: The first part is an introduction, and it is a brief introduction of significance, present situation and methods of this research. The second part addresses the Taoism policies and its changing trend in the early Ming dynasty. This part is mainly about background of official Taoism policies to Zhang Yuchu's upgrading and promoting the rationalization of Taoism argumentation, and the changing characteristics Taoism showed in the early Ming dynasty.
