The Macanese Sinologist Marques And Xin-shi Di-li Bei-kao

Jose Martinho Marques, a Macanese Sinologist, wrote a lot of writings during his life. The publication of his Chinese work Xin-shi di-li bei-kao is an important thing in the history of Macao's culture after Opium War. The book, 200 thousands words, had substantial content and a detailed information. It gave the person , who thirsted for knowing the world, a rare of knowledge on the geography and history of the world. Although the book had something not very good in its style or content, even some inaccuracise brought by the localization of the age, its active meaning and the far-reaching influence on the society were incontestable. I wrote the paper using some Chinese and Portuguese I iteratures which were found lately in order to clarify some doubts on the problem.
