The Macao Orchestra (Portuguese: Orquestra de Macau, English: The Macao Orchestra) isa professional ensemble, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the MacaoS.A.R. Government. It was established by Father Aureo of Academia de Musia de S. Pio X. in1983, was called Macao Chamber Orchestra. In1984, The Orchestra was under the auspicesof the Instituto Cultural de Macao.In September2008LüJia started his tenure as Music Director and Principal Conductor of theOrchestra, initiating several concert series in each season and presenting to the public,comprehensively and systematically, both Western and Chinese programmes, therebystimulating the interest of a growing public.The Orchestra collaborates regularly with numerous internationally renownedmusicians, conductors and ensembles including Leonidas Kavakos, Iván Martín, BarryDouglas, Fou Ts’ong, Lang Lang, Yundi Li, Sarah Chang, Qin Liwei, Ning Feng, Daniel Oren,The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Latvian National Opera (Latvia), the Lithuanian NationalOpera and Ballet Theatre and the Korean Chamber Orchestra, etc. In addition, the MacaoOrchestra has been regularly invited to perform in Mainland China and overseas, performingin more than30cities in China, Portugal, Spain and the U.S.A, etc. The Orchestrasuccessfully presented high quality concerts through its refined performance style andprofessional level, becoming a symbol of Macao’s prosperity as an international cultural city.In the researching process, I had collected the statistic data in economics andperforming arts, and interviewed the administrators of Macao Orchestra and schoolmates ofAcademia de Musia de S. Pio X, and collected the music program, realize the operationalmanners of Macao Orchestra, sum up the oncoming development of Macao Orchestra.
