A Study On The Influence And Enlightenment American English Spread Policy To Language Development In China

Language Policy is a means of the government to manage social language life and to solve the language problems in society. It is also a very important subject in sociolinguistics. Language spread is very important for a country. The government of a country would use every means to spread their language in order to consolidate their state power.Under the support and prompting of the developed economy, the United States of America launched serials of Language Spread Policies through which the country fulfilled its goal of "maintaining the central status of English, repelling other languages." On one hand, this policy did harm the development of other languages. But on the other hand, we can learn something from it. This dissertation began with the American English Spread Policy, and expounded the influence English spread to the language development in China, which proved that further development of Sinitic in China need guidance of government policy.This research indicates that "heat in English" hurt Sinitic development in China, which has some relationships with English spread. However the essential reason is that we haven't a practical Sinitic Spread Policy. This thesis put forward personal suggestions.
