Even according to the modern's eyes, " Yan instruction" remains a quite valuable work, mainly showing in the following aspects: First, law and ways to adjust oneself and household managements mentioned in the book, still have beneficial reference to us now; Second, the detailed record to social current situation and local conditions and customs at that time in the book, facilitate studying history, intellectual history and custom history of the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties; Third, knowledge such as relevant literature, characters, phonology, collating, calligraphy in the book, shows great influence and value on academics nowadays.Based on the " Family Instructions" by Wang Liqi, this paper makes a systemic and overall study on "Yan Instructions" : In chapter one the author starts with experience of Yan Zhitui, analyses the writing reasons from politics, society, family instructions aspects; In chapter two describes the time of book writing, style and the situation the book going around; In chapter three the author illustrates the ideological system of "Family Instructions" from family, Buddhism, aesthetic, literature thoughts; the last chapter, the author analyses the influences and values with the basis from historical data study , folk-customs study and so on.
