On The Personality And Literary Spirit Of Sima Xiangru

This academic thesis takes Sima Xiangru as the research object, whose life experience, personality essence and literary spirit are thoroughly studied and researched in it. In appendix I this thesis sorts through the date on the collections of his writings by the forefathers; In appendix II the depart year of his writings is given a textual research on the basis of historical truth ,in which the research outcomes of scholars such as Fei Zhen gang, Gong Ke chang were used for references.I,This thesis studied three issues on his life experience ,combined the conditions about the era that Sima Xiangru lived in, the feature of his character and his performances:1. His life experience is specifically divided by stages, on the foundation of the study on the years of his birth and death.2. This thesis analyzed the reasons of his going to the county of Liang. I drew a conclusion that in addition to his desire of taking part in the literary activities and artistic creations, there are some political factors . .3. This thesis clarified people's misunderstanding to him, by saying that he wanted money from his father-in-law .â…¡,This thesis analyzed the personality essence of Sima Xiangru on the basis of his experience and performance. I summed up them as the following:1.He was dextrous on worldly affairs, keen on patriotism;2.He was not a stickler for the conservative ideas and outmoded customs, he was straightforward, magnanimous, full of tenderness to his wife Zhuo Wen Jun.3.He was versatile, he had abundant knowledge about literature , music and calligraphy, especially he was a distinguished literature writer. There are exquisite dictions in his literary works of Han Fu.
