The Chu culture with its powerful vitality became the principal culture of the Western Han Dynasty which was characterized by the Chu song. LiZeHou even thinks that Han culture is the Chu culture. As an important part of literature of Han Dynasty, Han Fu was influenced by the Chu culture. SiMaXiangRu is a great master of prose poems which will become the paper’s research target. The paper provides insights on how Chu culture influenced SiMaXiangRu and infers the spiritual influence Chu culture gave a generation of Western Dynasty scholars.The first chapter briefly defines the characteristics of the Chu culture. Firstly, this part of the paper gives features of Chu culture, which include patriotic feelings, wide open mind, popular folkways and customs and mysterious and legendary Chu folk songs.The second chapter studies Chu culture’s influence on creation of SiMaXiangRu’s prose poems combined with her life and works. The Songs of the South and Han Fu are monuments of poetry creation of Chu culture. To a great extent, the creation of Han Fu is the inheritance and development of Chu culture which is a key and difficult point of this chapter, including three aspects. First of all, Chu people not only annexed other country’s land, but also bravely absorbed other country’s advanced culture. This kind of wide open mind echoes masterpiece and great vigor of Han Fu. Secondly, the romantic way of expression includes elaboration, fiction, overstatement, imagination and advocating odd deceitful. Romance is a typical characteristic of the Chu culture as well as the important characteristics of Han Fu, which is also clearly expressed in SiMaXiangRu’s prose poems.The last chapter is analysis Chu culture’s inheritance in Western Han Dynasty. And then the second part of this chapter summarizes the spiritual influence Chu culture has on scholars in Western Han Dynasty which involves frustration and tragedy consciousness. Whether intense emotions Chu people express during sacrifice or strong tragedy consciousness of the Songs of the South has a deep effect on Western Dynasty scholars. The strong expression also matches with inner emotions of Western dynasty people. As far as the position of Chu culture, it not only impacts SiMaXiangRu, but also impacts a generation of Western Dynasty scholars. Therefore, the author chooses two points which best represent Chu cultural spirits to start her discussion. The author’s aim is to expand the influence of Chu culture into a historical time.
