The prostitute is not only a status in society, but also a phenomenon in history. We can call it 'vocation' since the middle period in Tang because of its systematism.Based on 《The Records in Beili》 , used the method in History, Sociology, Economics, the thesis tries to tell us the reasons why the prostitutes in Tang' marketplace were called vocations, and what they have been since the middle period in Tang. Further more, we could get the conclusion that the prostitutes in Tang' marketplace had relations with the whole society such as Economics, Cultures and so on. They need those factors and still influenced them in some degree. So, the development of the object in the research reflected and stimulated the alteration from Tang to Song.The thesis is composed of three parts:The first part discussed on the prostitutes' attribute in tang, and figured out that they might take part in some big parties or make love with somebody to raise money.The second part analyzed the reasons why the prostitutes in Tang' marketplace were called vocations, the prostitutes can open the business in bawdyhouse, the bawdyhouses can have their own members, income/expenses, and develop some systems on management. In addition, these kind of prostitutes start to spread all over the country, such as the center of the government ChangAn, LuoYang, the center of the economics XiangYang, YangZhou, and the center of the prostitutes SuZhou, HangZhou. On all accounts, we can get the real conclusion that the prostitutes in Tang' marketplace have been vocationsThe third part summarized the relationship between the prostitutes and the whole country, including the economics and the society culture. One is the dependence on these factors, and the other is the influence on them.Finally, the prostitutes can real reflect and and stimulate the alteration from Tang to Song, and the research are of great benefit to the history in Tang.
