Chinese poets have had the tradition that chant prostitutes in literature since ancienttimes.There were the various types of prostitutes in the Tang Dynasty,they were takento travel and to party had became common practice.Poetry chanting prostitutes had developedmature and became into a important type of Tang poetry in Tang Dynasty.Its literary merit,social and historical value,and cultural value is self-evident.However,the study on Tangpoetry chanting prostitutes is still significantly weaker.In this thesis,on the basis of thewhole poetry of Tang Dynasty and avariety of historical materials the Tang poetry chantingprostitutes intended to be defined.Then its historical and cultural origins,development andevolution,and aesthetic ideal will be study more systematic.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter through Study and Comparison concluded that the ancient Chinese"prostitutes" is the main meaning of "music female" which refers to a variety of entertainmentartist,and we made a more scientific definition of academic about Poetry chantingprostitutes.The second chapter mainly through study the all kinds of historical materials to classifiesprostitutes in term of attribution——palace－prostitues,officicia－prostitues,family－prostitues,andtown－prostitues in Tang Dynasty.The prosperity of prostitutes bloomed in Tang Dynasty.The scical and cultural origins of Tang poetry chanting prostitutes also contains followingseveral respects:attitude of ruling class,social fashion,prostitutes and poets spread fameeach other,and imperial examination of Tang dynasty.The third chapter research into the style of palace poetry of poetry chanting prostitutesin erly Tang Dynasty,and points out the course of development of the poetry chantingprostitutes in Tang Dynasty. As the association became more and more close betweenprostitutes and poets, the new changes had taken place on the development of poetry chantingprostitutes in the mid-Tang.The last chapter probes into the aesthetic pursuit of poetry chanting prostitutes in TangDynasty.It contains following several respects:feminine-beauty,indulgent beauty,andbeauty of melancholy. Prostitutes and knight-errant met in Tang poetry also has a kind ofunique romantic and indulgent beauty.After the mid-Tang,the poetry chanting prostituteshad lonely and sad beauty,especially Late Tang. The aesthetic characteristics,subjectmatter,styles,and artistic techniques in the Tang poetry chanting prostitutes have had aninfluence on later Ci-poetry.
