In the history of Chinese philosophy, Gong Zizhen is an important philosopher who serves as a link between past and future. He proposes the philosophical proposition "I" and makes it become the core of his philosophic thinking. The "I" has profound theoretical connotation, which not only reserves the concern on "individual" in Chinese traditional philosophy, but also produces great influence on Chinese modern philosophy.This thesis employs logistic and historical method to make a research on his theory. It includes four chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the social background and theoretical resource of Gong' s "I" theory; Chapter 2 puts emphasis on exploring the exact connotation of "I" , that is, it. represents the concern on the "existence of human" ; Chapter 3 discusses from four aspects about the place of "I" in Gong' s philosophic thinking; and Chapter 4 sets forth the meaning that Gong' s proposing of "I" and the relationship between "I" and "subject" and freedom.
