With the development of modern transportation and telecommunication, people have more necessity to communicate with each other face to face. However, for the lack of language environment and appropriate learning strategies it is often a headache for language learners to practice and learn colloquial language well. This thesis is designed to discuss whether any relations exist between the use of colloquial language learning strategies and communication strategies, and students'colloquial and communicative achievements. 88 English-major students of Grade 2003 from North China Electric Power University and Beijing Agricultural College are chosen as subjects. The subjects are divided into high and low achievers according to their average oral English achievement within 3 terms. The data are analyzed with SPSS 13.0, the result of which showed that the group of Memory Strategies is used most frequently, and the Metacongnitive Strategies rank the last. As for the difference of high and low achievers, the author found that there are two differences: the first one is that the high achievers got higher scores in almost all the questions; the second one is that the high achievers employed some groups of strategies more frequently than the low achievers. Thus, the conclusion is made that the effective use of colloquial language learning strategies & communication strategies has a close correlation with students'colloquial and communicative achievements. At the end of the thesis, some suggestions are made based on the findings.
