The meaning of"moral"is usually explained as"the synthesis of the particular action criterions in order to regulate the interpersonal relationship". It was the central thesis in Chinese antique philosophy and neoteric philosophy study. This paper choices Lu Jiu-yuan's moral thought as the object of study, who was the initiator of Mind learning of the Song dynasty. After reading the original works of Lu and consulting a great deal of the reference materials, the paper analyses Lu's thought from the following six parts: the origin of his thought, moral bases, moral principle, moral education, moral self-cultivation and moral stasis, through the ways of integrating the class analysis and the theory analysis and integrating the history analysis and the realism analysis. Based on the noumenon theory of"mind is nature"and the theory of good and vice of"nature joint with man", Lu Jiu-yuan brought forward the moral education theory of"honor virtue"and the moral self-cultivation theory of"meditate own mind". The highest stasis of moral self-cultivation is the expected personality,"sage". When analyzing the thought of Lu, the paper compares it with the ethical thought of Zhu Xi, who was the representative of the Nature learning of the Song dynasty. The comparison is mainly about moral education and moral self-cultivation, such as the comparison of"honor virtue"and"question regularly", and the one of"meditate own mind"and"find out the truth from materials". What's more, in order to show the great contribution of Lu in Mind learning and pointing out the deficiency of his theory, the paper compares Lu's thought with Wang Yang-ming's on the noumenon theory of mind, the moral theory, the expected personality theory, and so on. At the end of the paper, there is the evaluation of Lu's thought, which including the agreement of its further values on two parts and the exposure of its deficiency and negative from two different point of view.
