Basic curriculum of design is the necessary core of this speciality in all the colleges in the world. It developed early on abroad, and the recent programmes of basic curriculum of design in China are mainly based on the mix of original painting art, Chinese traditional craft, the overseas basic educational systems of Russian, Germany and Japan, and based on the 'Three-Structures' which was introduced from Hongkong in 1980's and finally shaped. This teaching method following the single professional training of craft and the learning-taught method, is from the original way of experience-teaching to the high educational level directly. And the educators seldom list exactly and divide the necessary points of knowledge for grasping into different hours, and the current system of the basic courses is lack of the necessary validation of the rules of completion, structure, levels, connection, and choices, and can not supply a opening, and qualitied flat stage for students to operate, and finally makes those who are lack of right basic training learn difficultly to optimize design and become a creative, important designer instead of a skilled craftsman . On the other hand, Chinese educators did not set basic courses of design as the education of common knowledge and diathesis since the periods of elementary school and middle school like European countries and Japan do, but begins the training for students since their college schoollife, so that students can not reach the comme il faut level for the require of the speciality basic courses, so copying the contents of basic courses in overseas colleges without considering the real educational background and levels of students has caused many bad results. All in all, most of recent, basic art design curriculum in China have serious shortcomings.The most important problem in education of design, is the reformation of basic education, especially the one of basic courses. It is the same sense of all relationed teaching units and many investigators, for the basic courses lead, optimize and reconstruct the applied elements of design speciality, and directly restrict and affect the following carrying on of art design speciality as the integrative basic wide stage. At present, our reformation in the system of basic design courses has some achievement, but it is only shown in few advance art and design colleges, we need to go on studying and deepening the research, and make a better reformation of the basic curriculum system, in order to adapt to the urgent require of most of art colleges and departments...
